The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Trailer Debuts, Introducing Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
Nintendo alongside Illumination released the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. The reveal happened in a special Nintendo Direct that focused exclusively on the upcoming animated film.
Following up on the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will transport Mario to the far corners of the galaxy. In his journey, he meets a different royal figure and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
An Interstellar Journey Inspired by Iconic Releases
Similar to the Wii-era games that provide its foundation, Mario will venture away from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. During his grand adventure, he will reunite with some well-known personalities, such as the Luma, a popular character from the previous film.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who seemingly utilizes powers related to metal. Notably, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also contains hints to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Celebrity Voice Actors Returns and Expands
The feature will see the return of the primary vocal talent, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
Mario's Major Moment
The upcoming Mario film is scheduled to arrive close to the four-decade milestone of the first Super Mario Bros. title. In addition to the movie, 2026 is shaping up to be a major period for Mario and his allies.
The company has a set of three fresh titles officially announced for the upcoming year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
