Battlefield 6 Gamers Agree: Tasks Are Overly Demanding

The release of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 garnered broad praise, especially for its flagship multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, live player figures surged to nearly 750,000. However, despite its popularity, an increasing amount of players are expressing frustration over several of the title's hardest challenges, which are required to unlock specific weapons.

Users have commenced turning to custom matches set up using the custom game tool to achieve these objectives, highlighting just how demanding these missions have become.

Understanding BF6 Objectives

Tasks represent Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, different from the periodically changed daily and weekly challenges. It features four categories of assignments, but where most only reward outfits and select equipment, completing the weapon assignments is the only way of obtaining 12 of the 41 key firearms present in the game.

Several of these restricted firearms could shortly make their appearance on rankings for the top weapons in Battlefield 6.

Player Outcry on Reddit

Over on Reddit, players are reasonably expressing their worries about how hard and tedious some of these challenges are. One user emphasized one of the most egregious examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
  • Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs

"This mission is so awful and entirely ill-conceived, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a statement that captures just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.

The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it has significantly fewer benefits in combat as it did in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.

Additionally, using an LMG from the hip is wildly inaccurate and functions solely at point-blank proximity, which is seldom the location you aim to be. The same user also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that mission would be far more appropriate to hipfire kills, and conversely.

Another Ridiculously Tough Mission

Another Reddit user brought attention to an additional excessively hard challenge, this time in the marksman rifle class to obtain the PSR:

  • Secure 150 precision takedowns over 200m with marksman guns

This is challenging enough as it is, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at that kind of range.

There is a decent selection of map sizes, but given there are merely nine maps in the game right now, it means you're limited to playing a specific urban map, Mirak Valley, and perhaps a classic map at a push if you plan to engage from afar from over 200m away.

The Bypass

There is a workaround though: the custom game tool. This portal feature is a system that permits you to create personalized matches on the battleground of your choice, complete with bots. This means you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't really seem like the intended gameplay experience.

However, when tackling the tasks in a normal session appears to work against fun, since you have to play in such an atypical style that offers no advantage to anyone, is it surprising for finishing these in a personal session so squad members are not disadvantaged?

Upcoming Tweaks

It won't come as a surprise if a number of these missions are adjusted to be less difficult in the coming days or weeks, because if they're not, certain gamers simply won't get their hands on the restricted guns.

Currently, the community continues to voice their opinions on these strenuous in-game tasks, hoping for a more balanced player experience in subsequent patches.
